Welcome back everyone! If you missed part 1, you can find it here, but essentially I revealed that I may have just started a new project. ‘For the content’ is a phrase that is bandied around quite often in our group chat, and it turns out it’s quite a powerful one. So today, dear reader, I’m going to try and justify myself to you.

It could be argued that I’ve always had an affinity with Orks, right back at the very start when my dad got 7 year old me the 2nd edition box. I even had the metal Ghaz and a few burna boyz from the time. Yes, one could make the point that that was around 30 years ago and yes, I never actually used them… but hey, I’m scraping the barrel here.

The reality is that’s orks have always been cool, but not quite my cup of tea. However, if we fast track to a recent Sunday when I was researching the lore of Ghaz for the Lunchtime Show, and I’ll be honest dear reader… I felt a little tingle. Maybe it was Gork and Mork doing their thing, who knows, but a seed had been planted and we know what happens to seeds. Coincidentally, someone mentioned pirate orks in our group chat at around the same time and a quick google later that seed was fully bloomed, and I was once again out of tissues.

One particular 3d designer I’m a fan of is Mekka Miniatures. He has done a huge range, and releases new ones on a monthly basis. I’ve attached a few pictures below- yes, the proportions are slightly cartoony and actually, the models are definitely bigger than the standard versions, but I just love the character. A personal fave is the boats as bikes.

Obtaining the models without paying insane Etsy prices will take some time, so to tide me over I found a different design of a pirate Captain and ordered that. It was fun to paint, and I can now reveal…

Kaptin Ozkarr Tullsmasha!

I went for blue as that’s very nautical, but knowing me everything will end up a random variety of colours by the end anyway. And by that I mean, I am currently working on a unit of Boyz I picked up from Etsy and they are wearing red. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

The most important thing to keep reminding myself is that this is a hobby project, something to reignite my painting passion, and I just need to not do anything silly and over indulge, as I always do. I absolutely need to stay away from websites like eBay, and definitely not type in Pirate Orks 40K. I should definitely avoid any massive job lots of a variety of 3d printed Orks, because there’s absolutely no reason to make such a purchase- that’s not the goal.

I absolutely, categorically, definitely won’t do that.
